雌性白鼻心動情週期間子宮與卵巢之超音波學探討

Ultrasonographic Appearance of the Uterus and Ovary of Female Formosan gem-faced Civets (Paguma Larvata Taivana) During Consecutive Estrous Cycles

摘要

The female Formosan gem-faced civets (Paguma larvata taivana) is classified to the non-seasonal polyestrous cycles. The ovarian activity has been previously reported by our team, based on sex hormone fluctuations. However, until recently the ultrasounographic appearance of internal genital organs was not been published in this species. Six sexually matured female civets were scanned by ultrasonic liner transducer with 7.5 MHz on DO, D4, D7, D1O, D14 and D18 during two consecutive estrous cycles. Simultaneously, serum estradiol and progesterone were assayed. The ultrasonographic examinations revealed: the diameter of uterus horn in follicle phase (DO, D4, D7) wider than the corpus luteum phase (D10, D14, 18) (p<0.05), the transverse diameter of the ovary on DO, D4, D7 and D18 significantly small than D10 and D14 (p<0.05), the vertical diameter of the ovary increasing from DO to the largest in D7 and remarkably reduced in leuteal phase (D10, D14) (p<0.05) and the calculated ovarian area obviously greater on D4 and D7 than other days (p<0.05). These data indicate that ultrasonographic changes of ovary and uterus are associated with fluctuations of estradiol and progesterone both in lollicular and luteal phases. Relevant information could be beneficial to future physiology study and gynecologic medicine in Formosan gem-laced civets.
