多元文化教育引進台灣之後,成為原住民教育論述的一個重要立論點,國內學者普遍認為由多元文化觀結束省思,才能解決原住民教育的問題。而國內這些年所出版日多元文化教育著作,主要都在引述美國方面的理論與實務,有關多元文化教學與研究,也都幾乎環繞著James Banks、Geneva Gay、Cral Grant、Christine Sleeter等美國學者的觀點打轉,雖然這些美國經驗具有一定的通則性意見,卻不見得放諸四海而皆準。其中的關鍵,在於不向社會各有不同的文化差異現象或文化霸權背景,其所發展的多元文化教育內容及強調的多元文化教育重點,難免有出入。依此而論,發展本土適用的多元文化理論及實務乃是現階段的首務。 本文理與寶務並重。在理論方面,首先探討多元文化教育的本質與內涵,在寶務方面,則是以東部二間原住民小學為田野觀察的現場,了解在多元文化脈絡下原住民學校的母語教學現況。透過理論與實務的結合,期能喚起國內「母語教學」的檢視及對「多元文化教育」的再反思。
It becomes an important viewpoint when the ”multicultural education” has introduced to Taiwan about aboriginal education discussion, some internal scholars agree that in order to solve aboriginal education problem, the multi-cultural viewpoint is a key point Since these years in Taiwan, almost publications introduce the multicultural education theory and practice from American, the related study and research also repeat American scholars' view like James Banks、 Geneva Gay、 Cral Grant、 Christine Sleeter etc, Even the foreign experience has some common practical utility, but it can not be a universal point after all. The key problem is that every society has different cultural and hegemony background, and then it develops different contents and emphasis on multicultural education. So, it is the primary work to develop local multicultural theory and practice in the present age. It combines theory and practice in this thesis. In the first, exploring the meaning and innate character in multicultural education by document analyzing. And the second research fields are two aboriginal elementary schools in eastern Taiwan, to understand the how the mother tongue education take place in the aboriginal school under the multicultural ambiance, It hopes awake us to re-view domestic mother tongue education and rethink multicultural education
