Taiwan has become a multi-cultural society which is influenced by the immigration flow of South-East Asian transnational brides. Acculturation is identified as an important health issue among immigrants. Acculturation is a psychological experience and dynamic process of changing, adapting to a new culture among immigrants. This article aims to examine the acculturation theory, acculturative stress model, acculturation strategies, acculturation influencing factors, and nursing implementations. We expect that nursing professionals can apply acculturation theory to early identification of acculturative stress, to provide culturally appropriate and sensitive nursing intervention, and to promote the immigrant women and their family's health quality.
