This article is an emergency care experience for a young woman who was subjected to violence from her partner in an intimate relationship. During the period of care, from 08:33 to 16:30 on April 9, 2014, the author collected information on physical, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of the case through listening, interviews, and physical assessment, and found that the case was an example of "Taiwan intimate partner violence." The Risk Assessment Form (TIPVDA) is used for this high-risk group, and has a range of scores of 10 points. The problem is that pain, fear, and powerlessness in such cases might interfere with valid reporting of the incident, so during the care process, the author introduced a safe and intimate care environment through self-introduction, accepting the negative emotions of the case with empathy, providing professional knowledge to enhance the patient's education, and establishing a therapeutic interpersonal relationships to relieve fear in the heart as well as provide relevant social services from social workers. Consultation with social workers enabled the patient to learn how to use social resources herself to get help, improve her sensitivity to the crisis, and bravely face intimate relationship violence. A follow-up telephone interview revealed she had returned to the workplace to rebuild a new life, and was moving out of the shadow of intimate partner violence.
