Sharp injury is a common occupational injury. In 2019.Seven cases of sharp injury (18.9%) occurred among operation professional nurses. An analysis revealed that these cases resulted from personnel lacking a sense of crisis of sharp injury, insufficient awareness of the need for verbally alerting colleagues when passing around pointed objects within the surgical team, insufficient training, unclear work standards, the lack of internal audit mechanism, and the scarcity of an appropriate safety device, namely an electric razor. Knowledge of and skills for protection and safety regarding pointed objects were enhanced through training, simulation learning practices on sharp injury, and implementing relevant work standards. Implementing a regular audit mechanism in the surgical team and remodeling team communication help improve personnel cooperation. Job security was improved through the use of electric razors. After the project was implemented, two cases of sharp injury occurred among 37 operation professional nurses in 2021; the incidence rate decreased to 5.4%, reflecting the success of the project. A follow-up was conducted by the researchers from January 1 to May 31, 2022. The incidence rate was zero during this period, indicating that sharp injury among operation professional nurses were effectively reduced through the project intervention, thereby increasing the safety of the operating room environment.
