The article discussed the nursing experience of a spiritually distressed young female patient diagnosed with cervical cancer. During the nursing period from Oct. 7th 2009 to Oct. 25th 2009, the author collected data via conversation, observation, and medical chart review. The author noticed that the patient was in pain due to the compression from metastatic tumor and affected by the anxiety from impending death, confirming the health issues as followed: chronic pain, disappointment in role expectation due to impending death, regret from unfinished wishes and spiritual distress. After the discussion among the medical team, the nursing emphasis would be to aid the patient in relieving the discomfort resulted from the disease and introduce faith through active care and empathy skills, in collaboration with hospice nursing staffs, social workers, psychologist and religious intervention, allowing the patient and the family to face the terminal stage of the disease with dignity and quality.
