This article described a nursing experience of a child who was readmitted to hospital for recurrence of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The authors collected data by observations, interviews, systematic review, medical records and medical team discussion from April 5th to 24th, 2010. Gordon's 11 Functional Health Patterns were applied and several nursing issues were identified, such as fever, potential risk of injury, oral ulcer and body image disturbance. Communication skill such as listening, accompanying and drawing were applied as nursing strategies to foster a therapeutic nurse-patient relationship. Furthermore, numerous health education, accurate information and emotional support were provided to aid the patient and the family in facing issues in physical, psychological, spiritual and social aspect.
