Warehousing Innovations: A Patenting View

摘要


在倉儲管理技術相關議題上,供應鏈管理所扮演的角色已成為重要的研究領域。然而現今物流文獻對於提供宏觀角度的倉儲技術之分析研究仍是非常缺乏。本研究之主要目的為從專利角度以倉儲技術為分析對象來了解倉儲相關技術之宏觀發展現況。因此本文以常被高科技業使用卻未被其他許多產業所注意之專利地圖分析方法對美國專利資料庫進行資料採礦。本文為第一個應用專利地圖法針對倉儲技術進行專利指標分析。研究結果顯示美國倉儲技術主要擅長於掃描與條碼相關技術。

The role supply chain management plays has emerged as an important area in the analysis of warehousing-related topics. Nevertheless, it was found that virtually no literature provides a overall view about the current warehousing-related innovations. The purpose of this study is to show a holistic picture on warehousing technologies from the patenting perspective. Hence, an in-depth ”Patent Map” analysis, utilized heavily by hi-tech firms but often ignored by other industries, is performed in the research to data mine warehousing-related techniques from the noted United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) database. The research is the first empirical study presenting the current technological profile in warehousing at all levels (country, industry, firm, as well as technique). The research findings show that the United States inventors excel in this area and are innovative in patents associated with scanning and bar-coding techniques.
