Purgation is the important therapeutic method both in traditional Chinese medicine and Indian Ayurveda. The article would like to study ”Sushruta Samhila” which is the original classic of Ayurveda, wants to realize the Context of purgation in early Ayurvedic era, to illustrate the classification of each therapeutic method and purgative herb, to show the recipe, formula, and indication of each kinds of purgative medicine. The chief medicine in the statement have trivrit (Ipomoea turpethum), the root of danti (Baliospermum monatum), the root of dravanti (Croton ziglium), lodhra (Symplocos racemosa), haritaki (Terminalia chebula), eranaa taila (Castor oil), and the latex of sudha (Eupharbia nerrtfolia), besides, to discuss the indicative difference of haritaki in India and China.
