The Asia Pacific Network of Science and Technology Centres was established in May 1997 at a meeting in Bangkok, Thailand. This Network, open to all science centres and museums in the Asia Pacific region, is one of four major networks which collectively bring together a large proportion of the globe as networks. Europe has ECSITE, North America has ASTC, South America has RED-POP and now the Asia Pacific region has ASPAC. These networks provide support structures for science centres and museums who seek sharing and collaboration for a wide range of activities offered by science centres and museums. The Global Networks share information, support and cooperate in a wide range of activities. Examples will be used to illustrate ways Networks can provide assistance to museums and science centres globally, regionally and at a local level. This presentation will highlight ways science centres and museums can benefit from association with a Network.
