Digitalization of exhibits is a necessary step for museums in todays information-oriented society. Museums rightly place a good deal of emphasis on displays, but they must also keep up with the latest developments in technology and bring together the abundant resources to which it has access. One way to constantly create new value for museums is to seek out and represent the many products which are available from museums via the internet so that they can be re-assembled and added to a museum's collection. Today's museums must be more than just a place to exhibit materials; they can also serve to make these objects and information available to other areas by putting them on web sites so that people elsewhere can also take advantage of them. This type of work principally involves two Internet technologies: -Image-based Virtual Reality technology and Hypermedia technology. New media technologies are developed all the time in the world of information, and no single medium can be the best to use in every situation. There are many different Internet technologies on the market today, each with its own particular characteristics and advantages. The theme of this article is to consider the problems that may arise when applying Image-based Virtual Reality and Hypermedia technology to the development of digitized displays in the future, and to offer experience and insight for those working in this field.
