產業機械文物的保存修復原則與實務：以中興紡織創廠針織機文物為例

Preservation and Restoration of Industrial Machinery Artifact: A Case Study of Historical Knitting Machine from Chung-Shing Textile Factory

摘要

產業機械文物來自於實用的場所，其保養皆以實用為目的，與藝術文物的修復有所不同，除了詮釋它在產業發展歷史中所扮演的文化意義，還有日後使用展示的實務考量。本文以國立科學工藝博物館所典藏中興紡織創廠針織機文物為研究對象，針對它的產業文化意涵、表面所殘留之污漬、腐蝕物（層）等證據、以往使用紀錄，及日後展示效果等因素綜合評估文物狀況，擬定修復方案，並實行之。

The National Science and Technology Museum (NSTM) collections include mostly historical industrial heritage, scientific and laboratory instruments, and everyday machinery associated with a modern technological society. Technical objects were originally used for manufacturing and kept functionally. Their conservation work involves aesthetic, scientific and technological aspects. The practical procedure is different from art objects. We need to consider the characteristic of the cultural role and hope them were partially workable after museum collects. Thus, the research represents the conservation and partial restoration of one large technical object, namely the Chung-Shing Textile Co. Tompkin's knitting machine, was executed. The whole restoration project involved the collection condition recording, scientific analysis of the coating and residue on the surface, and public display plan in the near future.
