Diverticulosis is one of the mot common diseases of the colon. We proposed to evaluate the improvement in the detection rate of diverticula in barium enema with additional post-evacuation films under increased intra-abdominal pressure. Post-evacuation films were taken in perspective 128 patients with negative findings on barium enema. The result yielded additionally increased detection of 48 diverticula in 24(19%) of 128 patients. 38(79%) of the 48 diverticula were within 2 mm in sizes and 42(88%) of them located in the right colon between the cecum and the hepatic flexure. We concluded that additional post-evacuation films undoubtedly improved the detection rate of small diverticula of the colon in barium enema.
