This paper studies the problem of ”plain-style utterance + sentence-final particle” in advanced Taiwanese learners of Japanese, through the analysis of “speech style + sentence-final particle” and comparison with that of native Japanese speakers. The results are as following. When the sentence-final particles ”YO”, ”NE”, ”KEDONE/KARANE /SINE”, and ”KANA/ NA” were used with plain-style utterances seen in learners, some examples were found that may let the initial interlocutor feel sense of incongruity. In addition, it is found that the individual difference is large when seeing according to the learners. The problems of advanced learners mentioned above have suggested that it is not easy to attach the appropriate sentence-final particles according to speech-level and that systematic instruction is required.
