The objective of this study is to investigate Taiwanese young people’s images of Japan. Respondents of this research are 475 elementary school, junior high school, senior high school and university students living in Kaohsiung in Taiwan in September 2007.Their Images of Japan are ”Courteousness”, ”Advanced influence”, ”Reliability”, and ''Familiarity''. The students of elementary and junior high school feel ”Courteousness”, ”Reliability”, and ''Familiarity'' stronger. This tendency implies that the positive images are formed from early elementary level, and reinforced at junior high school level. Meanwhile, the students of senior high school and university feel more ”Advanced influence”, and less ''Courteousness''.The images of Japan are influenced by the interests toward Japan (consisted from ”Active contact with Japan”, ”Japanese comprehensive culture”, and ”Japanese product”) and knowledge of Japan (consisted from the knowledge from ”Formal information”, and ”Popular entertainment”). The result shows that every factor of interests and knowledge of Japan exert favorable influence especially upon the image of ”Advanced influence” of Japan.
