西村賢太『芝公園六角堂跡』－作家イメージの問題を中心に－

西村賢太は、現代日本文学の中でも珍しい私小説作家であった。その私小説作品の中で、作者自身が「別格」と呼んでいたのが西村賢太（2017）『芝公園六角堂跡』である。『芝公園六角堂跡』には、「芝公園六角堂跡」の他に「終われなかった夜の彼方で」、「深更の巡礼」、「十二月に泣く」という全部で四篇の短編私小説が収録されているが、特に注目されるのは「芝公園六角堂跡」と「終われなかった夜の彼方で」である。本稿は『芝公園六角堂跡』所収の「芝公園六角堂跡」「終われなかった夜の彼方で」を取り上げ、西村の初期代表作「どうで死ぬ身の一踊り」（2005）との比較を通して、初期作品との違いを明らかにすると共に、西村賢太の作家イメージの問題について考察を加えるものである。

Among his I-novel works, Kenta Nishimura (2017) Shibakoen Rokkakudo Ruins is what the author himself called ＂a special work＂. The collection of short stories Shibakoen Rokkakudo Ruins contains not only ＂Shibakoen Rokkakudo Ruins＂ but also three short stories: ＂Beyond the Unfinished Night＂, ＂Midnight Pilgrimage＂, and ＂Crying in December＂, but the most noteworthy are ＂Shibakoen Rokkakudo Ruins＂ and ＂Beyond the Endless Night＂. This article will focus on ＂Shibakoen Rokkakudo Ruins＂ and ＂Beyond the Unfinished Night＂ from Shibakoen Rokkakudo Ruins and compare them with Nishimura's early representative work ＂A Dance of the Man Who Surely Dies＂ (2005). I clarify the difference between ＂Shibakoen Rokkakudo Ruins＂, ＂Beyond the Unfinished Night＂ and ＂A Dance of the Man Who Surely Dies＂, and at the same time add consideration to the problem of Kenta Nishimura's image as an artist.
