This study was designed to explore aromatherapy for women dysmenorrhea pain control and effectiveness evaluation, study participants have troubled by dysmenorrhea, with an average age of 23.25 year-old girls. The convenient sampling divided into three groups, i.e. experimental, placebo and control. Aromatherapy was applied to the experimental group by three-minute abdominal massage in a clockwise direction using 3% blending oil with Lavender, Clary Sage, Petitgrain in ratio of 2:1:1. The placebo group received the same treatment but with carrier oil with artificial flavors, and the control group received no treatment. Between of two menstrual periods regarded as the experimental treatment. The effectiveness evaluate by visual analogue scale (VAS), pain rating scale (VRS) and pain assessment guidelines PQRST, assess the degree of alleviate dysmenorrhea pain before and after aromatherapy treatment on study participants. The results showed that the visual analogue scale VAS and pain rating scales VRS showed significant differences decreased (p<0.001) both of experimental and placebo group, obviously massage for dysmenorrhea has an alleviate effect. Furthermore, decrease degree of VAS for experimental group more than placebo group, it means the aroma treatment is more effective to base oil on alleviate dysmenorrheal. The effectiveness of alleviate can't be completely ruled out massage contribution, we still command the aromatherapy treatment had positive confirmation. In conclusion the aromatic essential oil massage for dysmenorrhea pain control had statistically significant effect and the essential oils formula in this study will benefit for alleviate the dysmenorrheal.
