混合性聽力障礙病人生活品質調查

Investigation of the Quality of Life of Patients with Mixed-Type Hearing Loss

摘要

Background: The quality of life (QoL) status in patients with mixed type hearing impairment has not been reported domestically. The objectives of this study were to investigate the QoL of patients with mixed type hearing impairment and to compare their generic health status with that of a normative Taiwanese adult population. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in a prospective manner by interviewing 34 cases in a local medical center. Clinical data were collected, and the SF-36 (Short Form-36) questionnaire was administered. The general health status (SF-36) and clinical hearing data were correlated using Spearman correlation coefficients. A multiple regression model was used for risk analyses. Results: The general health status of patients with mixed type hearing impairment was significantly inferior to that of the population norm, as can be seen from the decrements in all 8 dimensions of the SF 36 subscales (p<0.05). The period of hearing loss was significantly positively correlated with role functioning physical (γ=0.602, p=0.006), general health (γ=0.574, p=0.016), and role functioning emotional (γ=0.517, p=0.019). Conclusions: The QoL of patients with mixed type hearing loss is much worse than that of the normative population, with especially serious impacts resulting in impaired social functioning. Following the time of hearing impairment, the impact of hearing loss was much lower. This study is an initial report on the QoL in patients with mix type hearing problems.
