以壓力生成模式與素質壓力模式探討大學生之人際行為、人際困擾與憂鬱症狀

Interpersonal Behaviors, Interpersonal Hassles and Depressive Symptoms: An Examination of the Stress Generation Model and the Diathesis Stress Model in College Students

摘要


背景與目的:素質壓力論(Diathesis Stress Model)是過去研究憂鬱症狀的重要模式。從憂鬱初發的觀點,素質壓力模式的確能說明患者症狀發展的歷程,然而,卻無法完整說明憂鬱症狀為何一再復發。因此,Hammen(1991)提出壓力生成模式(Stress Generation Model)說明憂鬱復發歷程,其認為憂鬱患者本身的行為或特質,會引發個體生活中的負向的人際事件,而這些負向事件會導致個體出現更多生活壓力,進而使憂鬱復發。過去20多年,相關研究大致支持此模式,然而本地未曾就此模式探討本地個體之憂鬱特性。因此本研究之目的即以人際行為與日常人際困擾為變項,檢驗此一模式是否可說明本地個體之特性。方法:以153名大學生為樣本,分三個時間點進行檢驗,以受試者慣用的人際行為、累積四週的日常人際壓力預測四週後的憂鬱症狀,檢驗壓力生成模式與素質壓力模式。結果與討論:本研究以素質壓力模式與壓力生成模式分別探討不同的人際行為及生活中的人際壓力,對憂鬱症狀的影響。結果顯示若個體出現較多「跋扈/控制」的人際行為,會導致其生活環境中出現較多的日常人際壓力,進而預測憂鬱症狀出現,即壓力生成模式獲得驗證,素質壓力模式則無法獲得支持。

Background and Purpose: It is widely accepted that the Diathesis Stress Model plays an important role in the development of depressive symptoms. However, the model explains the onset of depression, but not the maintenance or recurrence of it. Given such, Hammen (1991) proposed the Stress Generation Model, which asserts that individuals may actually contribute to the stressors that lead to the maintenance or relapse of depression. It suggests that depressed individuals, with their specific behaviors and characteristics, may contribute to those negative interpersonal events; the negative interpersonal events may cause interpersonal stressors, which may, in turn, lead to subsequent depression. The present study sought to examine the Stress Generation Model and the Diathesis Stress Model by linking interpersonal behaviors and interpersonal hassles. Method: The Study examined interpersonal behaviors and interpersonal hassles, which were tested by the Stress Generation Model and the Diathesis Stress Model with 153 college students. Results and Conclusion: Results of the Study indicated that Domineering/Controlling behaviors predicted interpersonal stressors, which, in turn, predicted depressive symptoms. The findings support the Stress Generation Model, but not the Diathesis Stress Model.
