Agonal stage is the most difficult stage for terminating patients and their families because death is approaching. It is imperative that a palliative care team is present to provide assistance to the patients and their families to overcome the distress in this period. Apart from teaching family members to identify the signs of death, a palliative care team can help reduce patients' sufferings. Furthermore, the team can guide the families expressing the four themes of life of Buddhism beliefs (express gratitude, apology, love, and goodbye), which can help repair and accommodate their physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and social burdens.
