Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the attitude toward home palliative care and the relationship with social support among single elderly people in Zhong-Zheng public house. Methods: This cross-sectional study assembled demographic data and attitude of palliative care and social support status using structured questionnaires from the enrolled single elderly during home visits carried out under the Hospital-Based Accountable Family Physicians System Pilot Project. Results: There were 88 questionnaires returned. Subjects who preferred to die in hospital had higher agreement on home palliative care compared with those who preferred to die home. There were no differences in social support factors between the two groups. Conclusion: The family physicians can have better understanding on end-of-life’s wills of the elderly from the findings of this study, and this enables the Accountable Family Physicians System Pilot Project to be complimentary with the home palliative care.
