According to the Report of the World Health Organization published on May 14, 2020, the global infected cases of COVID-19 had exceeded 4.37 million and caused 290,000 deaths since the outbreak in December 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic has driven rapid changes in healthcare systems and routine healthcare operations. In Taiwan, the early response and implementation of various epidemic prevention measures not only reduce the fear of the public and medical staff but also prevent the hoarding behavior of personal protective equipment. Besides, the personal protective equipment has been used reasonably according to the advice of the central pandemic command center to avoid waste due to panic. During the treatment of COVID-19 suspected or confirmed patients, medical staff exert professional knowledge and humanity quality and show empathy and care to patients and their families. The COVID-19 pandemic provides opportunities for medical transformation, including the internalization of comprehensive anti-epidemic measures into daily practice to reduce the fear of emerging infectious diseases and the use of visual communication tools as the professional basis of holistic based care. In the post-COVID-19 era, a new medical communication and health care model shall be established.
