The advanced stage of esophageal carcinoma is usually complicated with esophageal fistula, which is difficult to manage and has a poor prognosis. The covered self-expandable metallic stents were used to seal fistulas. We recently encountered a case of incomplete expansion of the self-expandable esophageal stent. We re-constructed it using Rüsch latex balloon dilator (9 mm tube) to passively expand the stent. The result was successful with the orifice of the esophageal fistula being sealed again. We here present this case.
