摘要

林語堂是中國第一個翻譯並提倡「幽默」的作家，在三十年代，興起了一股幽默文學的盛況。本文將分析林語堂成長的地理與家庭背景、思想與文化背景以及三十年代的社會政治情形，將林語堂和他的幽默文學置於近代中國特定的歷史文化背景中，客觀地探析其於當時提倡幽默文學的原因。

Lin Yutang is the first Chinese writer who could translate and advocate ”humor”. In 1930's, humorous literature was flourishing. This article analyzes Lin Yutang's growing environment, family background, thoughts, cultural background and social and political state of 1930's. It objectively researches on the reason why Dr. Lin Yutang advocated his humorous literature in its particular historical and cultural background.
