論鍾理和作品中的美濃風情

鍾理和，1915年出生於屏東縣高樹鄉廣興村（舊稱新大路關），1932年往來美濃與新大路關之間協助父親處理「笠山農場」等事業，後來歷經了同姓之婚、奔走瀋陽、遷居北平的歲月，於1947年再次回美濃定居，直至1960年過世前皆生活於此，因此其作品大部分都是在美濃完成的，不論散文、小說和日記，常深度地觸及到此地的人事地；例如其長篇小說《笠山農場》所描寫的是日據時期傳統古老的美濃，最後的中篇小說〈雨〉則描寫50年代土地改革後，處在現代工商轉型前農村尷尬時期的美濃，而其他散文和日記亦記載不少美濃的自然景觀和人文特色。文學若能著根於土地，作家筆下的人事物也才被賦予鮮活的生命；以是，我們可以說美濃孕育了鍾理和文學，美濃也因鍾理和文學而有名氣。有鑑於此，本論文嘗試爬梳鍾理和作品中有關美濃風情書寫的部分，並析論其對美濃人事地的看法，共分為「前言」、「美濃的地理景觀」、「美濃的風俗民情」、「美濃的人物特寫」和「結語」五個部分。希望透過鍾理和的心眼去認識當時的美濃，除了能更深刻地感受到人文藝術和山川自然的美感之外，亦能體驗其筆下所記錄、顯現的客家風采。

Chung Li-ho is a Taiwanese novelist born in 1915 in Guangxing Village, a rural township of Gaoshu in Pingtung, Taiwan. In 1932, he traveled with his father between Guangxing and Lishan Farm to help with family business on the farm. After having eloped with a woman bearing the same surname to Shenyang in China and migrated to Beiping, Chung finally settled in Meinong in 1947 and resided there until his death in 1960. It was during his residence in Meinong that he completed most of his works. His essays, novels, and journals offer an in-depth view of life of Meinong. For example, Lishan Farm depicts Meinong in the period of Japanese colonial rule; Chung's last work, Rain, describes how Meinong struggled in its transformation from a rural to industrial society following agrarian reform throughout the 1950s. Some of Chung's essays and journals also chronicle the natural scenery and cultural life of Meinong. A writer who pens about his or her homeland can produce a vivid account of it. As such, Meinong nurtured Chung's literature and became renowned accordingly. The present study aims to elucidate Chung's cultural writings on the landscape of Meinong and critique his description of local life. This study not only explores the cultural life and natural scenery of Meinong through Chung's eyes but also captures the appeal of the local Hakka community that he had portrayed.
