本試驗在網室內採無尾鳳蝶當日產卵,置於25±1°C,80±5%RH,14L:10D之生長箱內單隻飼養,以酸桔(Citrus sunki)葉片飼養其幼蟲至羽化為成蟲,每日觀察及記錄其生活史。得知卵孵化率只有67%,卵期總平均為4.46±0.06日;幼蟲期有五齡或六齡兩類,五齡型、六齡型及總平均的幼蟲期分別為19.50±0.22、21.80±0.29、20.45±0.13日,六齡型幼蟲之幼蟲期顯著較五齡型長;蛹期總平均為15.28±0.14日;自卵至成蟲羽化所需時間,五齡型、六齡型及總平均分別為39.37±0.29、41.50±0.29、40.24±0.25日。無尾鳳蝶幼蟲頭殼寬度超過4.39mm的閥值即進入化蛹階段,幼蟲頭殼寬度隨齡期增長以1.49~1.60倍呈等比增加,各齡幼蟲的頭殼寬度常用對數與齡期存在直線迴歸關係,符合戴爾法則。幼蟲期的頭殼寬度及體長皆依齡期增加而增長。本種蛹期、蛹重、蛹長、蛹寬之總平均依序為15.28±0.14日、1.17±0.02g、32.15±0.22mm、10.20±0.10mm;成蟲翅長總平均為41.40±0.47mm,翅寬總平均為29.60±0.32mm,成蟲壽命約為1~2個月。

Fresh eggs of Lemon butterfly, Papilio demoleus libanius Fruhstorfer were collected in the day of laying from the host in the net room. They were placed in the growth chamber under the conditions of 25±1°C, 80±5% RH, and a photoperiodism of 14 hr light and 10 hr darkness. The hatching larva were fed on Citrus sunki leaves individually until grew up into adults, series observations on their life history were conducted. The results were summarized as follows: The hatching rate of the eggs was 67%. The days for eggs to hatch were 4.46±0.06 days in average. Two types of larval stadium, namely five or six instars were found. The durations of larval stage for both five instar and six instar types were 19.50±0.22 and 21.80±0.29 days, respectively, and 20.45±0.13 days averaged over two types, the six instar type was significantly longer than the five instar type. The duration of pupal stage was 15.28±0.14 days in average. The duration from egg to adult emergence for five instar type, six instar type, and averaged over both types of larvae were 39.37±0.29, 41.50±0.29, and 40.24±0.25 days, respectively. The threshold value of head capsule width for larva developed into pupa was above 4.39 mm. The increment of the head capsule width of larva was in accordance with the increase in larval instar stage, maintained a ratio of 1.49 to 1.60 times. A linear regression coefficient was existed between the common logarithms of head capsule width of larva and the larval instar stages, this was in agreement with Dyar's law. The increments in both head capsule width and body length of larva were in accordance with the increase in larval instar stage. The duration, weight, length and width means of pupa were 15.28±0.14days, 1.17±0.02g, 32.15±0.22mm, and 10.20±0.10mm, respectively. The means of wing length and width of adults were 41.40±0.47 and 29.60±0.32 mm. The length of life of imagoes was about one to two months.
