從企業化及全球化談農業科技人的新思維

New Thinking of Agricultural Scientists in the Era of Globalization and Industrialization

摘要


民國五十、六十年代,農業支撐了臺灣的經濟命脈,臺灣的稻米、蔗糖及香蕉出口旺盛,是臺灣農業的黃金時代。當時欣欣向榮的臺灣農業刺激了國人就讀農學(農藝、園藝)之風潮,農業學科畢業生之出路甚佳,他們在政府機關、學術機構、學校及生產單位任職又帶動了臺灣農業的進一步發展。農學人就業市場的榮景,隨著我國進入世界貿易組織(WTO)所引起農業產業衰退,已不復存在。年青人由「農」改唸「工」、「資訊」及「服務業」。面對此種情形,農學人需要及早思考如何保護「農學」,以避免流失顧客(學生)。

During the period of 1960s to 1970s, agriculture industry was considered as the primary source sustaining economy of Taiwan. It was the golden age for rice, sugarcane, and banana, the three major exporting produces supporting foreign exchange. The prosperous agriculture encouraged young man devoted to farming and picked agriculture-related occupations as their top career choices. Lots of agriculture-oriented positions were available in government agencies, academic organizations, vocational schools and production corporations, which in turn further promoted the development of agriculture in Taiwan. Recently agriculture has become the minor industry, especially after entering the World Trade Organization a few years ago. Nowadays, young generations are eager after jobs in industrial, information technology and service sectors. Agriculture people must now learn to survive and protect themselves from being discarded outside labor market as well as throw away from the professional pick.
