病人觀點之“好護士特質”:以慢性病病人為例

The Perspectives of Good Nurse Traits of Patients with Chronic Diseases

研究顯示在技能上稱職的情況下,人際間的屬性(interpersonal attributes)是照護品質的最重要指標。所以,病人觀點中「好護士」是個怎麼樣的人,便值得探討。因此本研究目的爲探討病人觀點之「好護士」特質。 本研究採問卷調查法,問卷包含33個萃取自病人敘事中的好護士特質,由受試者就其對「好護士」的印象從中圈選出最重要的,不限圈選數,被圈選之比率愈高表示該項特質愈重要。研究對象爲慢性病住院病人,發出472份問卷,回收450份,有效率95%。結果發現33項中有十項圈選率達五成以上,其中第一重要是「有耐心的」,圈選率67.1%,第二重要爲「有責任感的」和「細心的」,圈選率皆爲65.6%。 本研究之結論爲,對於脆弱而易受傷害的病人而言,「好護士」的特質是「有耐心的」、「有責任感的」、和「愛心」及愛心所帶出來的多項良善美德。文中討論「耐心」、「情緒」、「發脾氣」的關聯,以及「有責任感的」與「克盡職責」之異同。研究結果可作爲護理人員自我覺察、自我反思的指引,以期提升護理人員對自我專業的肯定及其所提供之護理照顧的品質。

Research revealed that interpersonal attributes were the most important indicator of the quality of nursing care when technical competence was assumed. How patients described the nurses who provided good quality nursing care therefore deserved study. The aim of this study was to explore good nurse traits from the perspective of patients for whom they cared. A questionnaire including 33 good nurse trait descriptors was used to collect data. Four hundred seventy two patients with chronic diseases were asked to circle as many traits as they thought were important. Ten traits were circled by more than 50% of the patients. Among those traits, ”being patient” was the most important (67.1%) and both ”being responsible” and ”being attentive/cautious” followed closely behind (65.6%). Patience and emotion and their interaction, as well as the differentiation of responsibility and accountability were discussed. The results of this study have implications for nurses when they try to be more self-aware and self-reflective in providing a high quality of nursing care.
