摘要

近年來文化保存議題受到重視，2007年11月林務局嘉義林區管理處辦理「檜意森活村整體規劃及招商營運計畫」，恢復杉仔池宿舍群之日治時期舊貌，成為體驗式民宿村，以為文化資產活化再利用之案例。本研究團隊有機會與居民之深度訪談，佐以實地觀察與文獻分析，嘗試分析杉仔池宿舍群自建置以來，所形成的社區（Community）與社區意識（Sense of Community）特質，以及文化資產與生命歷程共構的經驗。本研究結果發現，嘉義市杉仔池宿舍群的社區意識以及其對居民的意義，具備員工福利、社區互助、成家立業、同好團體四個層面意涵。杉仔池宿舍擁有完善的員工福利措施，早在提倡社區概念的1960年代前，便發展出共同的社區意識，成立同好團體，居民之間有共同的歸屬感與認同感，進而對社區的事物皆能積極參與。在文化資產保存意義方面，杉仔池宿舍的營林俱樂部保存英國都鐸式建築，具歷史建築價值；在建築空間意義方面，則發現日式建築寬敞的特性有助於居民生活情感的連結。檜意森活村計畫固然能保留建築的文化資產，卻不免破壞原有的生活形態與社區意識。本研究結果建議，除了請居民擔任志工外，是否有同時使有形的建築文化資產與無形的社區文化皆獲妥善保存的方法，或許是執行計畫當局值得思考的課題。

Cultural preservation topics were respected recently. This study attempted to explore the relationship between community and sense of community, cultural property and community life of Jiayi Shan-Zai-Chi dormitory group, based on the information from official documentation and personal interviews with relevant persons.The value of community in Jiayi Shan-Zai-Chi Dormitory group shows on four spheres: employee welfare, mutual help, establish the family, association with the same hobby. The meaning of cultural property preservation shows on Ying-Lin club which conserve the Tudor architecture style, appear the historical value. The significance of building space shows on the Japanese-style buildings is contributive to condense the affections of local residents. In addition to the invitation of serving as narrators, this study also aims to propose Forest Region Administrative Office preserve the community culture of Jiayi Shan-Zai-Chi Dormitory group properly.
