臺灣國小英語教師全球化之認知與教學探討

並列摘要

Researchers of foreign language learning have suggested that learners' worldviews would likely affect their use of language and ultimate success in language learning. In response to the trend, the purpose of the study is to explore how elementary English teachers interpret globalization and seek for any reflection or influence on their practices in the classrooms in Taiwan. Data collection includes interviews from the participating English teachers, administrators, and textbook analysis. Results of the study revealed that both participating teachers and administrators were aware of the increasing interconnectivity among nations; however, the awareness of globalization was not presented in the classroom teaching. The study helps identify a huge gap between the participants' beliefs and what they have been urged to carry out in classrooms. The findings are fruitful to the development of teacher education, curriculum designs, and educational policies and implementations in the field of English education in Taiwan and other countries where English is taught as a foreign or second language at school.
