摘要

本質性研究乃探討決定停止人工協助生殖技術治療不孕婦女的處境及之後的生活調適。以半結構性訪談指引對已無意繼續治療達一年以上之不孕婦女進行錄音訪談，而後將錄音內容轉寫成逐字稿資料，再運用內容分析法分析、歸納並萃取其意義；共訪談了八位個案。結果分三大主題：一、不孕婦女停止人工協助生殖技術治療之抉擇情境；包括個人面臨進退兩難的抉擇、先生提出停止治療的建議、醫生瀕臨執行醫療處置的極限及出現非停不可的關鍵因素等類目。二、不孕婦女做出停止人工協助生殖技術治療決定後之壓力；包括來自自己想要生子的壓力及來自家人期望個案生子的壓力二類目。三、不孕婦女做出停止人工協助生殖技術治療決定後之調適；包括接納無親生孩子的事實、尋求寄託母情之所在及另覓生活重心等類目。此研究結果顯示不孕婦女在做停止治療之抉擇期間及停止治療後，更需要諮商及支持，而不孕專科護理師持續照顧之功能則更顯重要。

The purpose of this qualitative research was to explore the life situation and adjustment of infertile women who had decided to quit assisted reproductive technology (ART) for more than one year. A semi-structured interview guide and in-depth interview approach was used to collect data. Eight participants were recruited. The interviews were tape recorded and transcribed verbatim, and the content analysis method was used to analyze data. Three major themes were extracted from narratives. The first was that of the situations which facilitated infertile women's decisions to stop ART. This incorporated four categories: infertile women facing a dilemma in making a choice to quit ART, husbands' suggestion to stop treatment, almost nothing the doctors can do, and individual's critical factors. The second major theme was the pressure perceived by infertile women following the decision to quit ART. The pressure to bear one's own child comes either from the infertile woman herself or her family members. The third major theme was the adaptation of infertile women after ceasing ART. This incorporated three categories: accepting the fact that they would not have their own child, seeking another way to express their maternal affection, and finding another life goal. The result of this study showed that infertile women who attempt to quit ART need more counseling and support, either during the period of decision-making or after they have quit, and nurse specialists for infertility groups should offer continuing care.
