摘要

本研究以「天下」與「人間」兩本雜誌於一九八八年先後發行的台灣過去四十年歷史回顧專刊為分析對象，希望能從神話角度切入，瞭解照片影像在台灣共同記憶型塑過程中可能的影響。本研究首先比較「天下」與「人間」兩本雜誌如何以照片再現台灣歷史？這些照片的內容包括了哪些人物、活動、與場景？拍攝時用了哪種鏡頭角度、位置、與燈光？編輯照片時又採取了何類視覺傳達策略與文案說明？其次探討影像敘事下的深層語法。什麼樣的神話迷思結構存在於「天下」與「人間」的影像敘事內？簡單的矛盾對立又如何解釋台灣歷史的複雜變化、創造歷時演變的幻覺？Greimas的「符號矩形」是本研究神話分析的架構。令人訝異的發現是，「天下」與「人間」左右史觀相對抗，選用的照片也極少相同，兩種影像史的深層神話結構卻是十分雷同。

Based upon a mythological analysis of two versions of Taiwan's visual history in two magazines, this study tries to explore the possible impacts of still images on the construction of collective memory about what happened in Taiwan. Empirical analysis shows middle-aged male Hans dominate the images, although ”Tien Hsia” prefers middle and higher classes and ”Jen Chien” sheds more spotlight upon working class. Greimas's ”semantic rectangle” is used to analyze the two visual histories. It is surprising to see the identical mythological structure between them no matter how different their historical narratives and selected pictures are.
