For three thousand years, from the Book of Odes (Shi Jing) downward, Chinese poets recorded their experiences with the aesthetics of rain-related natural phenomena. Poets used the image of rain to express and vent feelings and thoughts in their poems. In Tang Dynasty, Du Fu penned more than 200 poems on themes around rain-related natural phenomena. In fact, rain is the primary subject of Du Fu's poems dealing with natural phenomena. There were different kinds of rain, windy slashing rain, steady drumming rain, midnight rain, the shower, the noiseless rain and so on. These ingenious images of rain had ref1ected Du Fu's views and thoughts. In this paper, the researcher tries to classify the different kinds of images of rain in Du Fu's poems and study the personal or imagined life experience ref1ected in these images of rain.
