Taiwan is the leading center of Chinese popular music, so the Golden Melody Awards, the highest honor of musical awards of Taiwan, is regarded as important by many foreign music artists. In recent years, globalization allows Taiwanese music artists to interact more frequently with foreign music artists. For this reason, The Government Information Office of Taiwan (R.O.C) takes steps to transform the Taiwan Golden Melody Awards into an international award, but simultaneously takes protective actions to ensure the rights of local music cultures. In this study, the researcher analyzes many data related to the Taiwan Golden Melody Awards and attempts to find out what impacts globalization and localization have on them. The researcher also makes a brief discussion about the influences that Taiwanese politics and social development have on the Golden Melody Awards.
