The current empirical study aims to examine modes of Hakka ethnic production and audience consumption on the World Wide Web. It was not until the 1990s, the internet has become one of the major targets of media uses and gratifications, and the Hakka ethnic community has become-”visible” in Taiwan. In light of the abovementioned theoretical background and social context, the current study employs methods of social survey and in-depth interview to assess the media uses and evaluations of Hakka internet resources from the audiences in Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli areas in Taiwan.
