摘要

在身心障礙病童成長過程中，自殘行為(self-injurious behavior)是一常見且嚴重的課題。咬唇(lip-biting)行為被認為是最為常見的自殘行為之一。針對咬唇自殘行為並沒有建立標準的行為處裡方式，目前，施用許多口部輔具以避免口唇部受傷，被多數牙醫師認可。本文報告一位發生咬唇自殘行為的兩歲腦性麻痺合併智能障礙女童，經由使用口腔護具(mouthguard)後，可以快速且有效的保護自殘行為所引發的傷害。吾人建議早期積極的軟性口腔護具使用於咬唇自殘行為可避免嚴重的口唇部傷害。

Self-injurious behavior is a serious problem that is commonly seen in developmentally disabled individuals. Lip-biting is considered a common type of self-injurious behavior. There have been no standard methods established to manage the behavior. A variety of oral appliances were presented to prevent the oral trauma. We reported a case of lip-biting on a 2-year-old girl with cerebral palsy and mental retardation. Through the use of mouthguard, it got a quick and effective treatment to inhibit this behavior. We conclude that mouthguard is a rapid and effective treatment modality in self-injurious lip-biting.
