Fundamental Literacy Competence Needed for Critical Thinking

摘要


作者洞察許多人常誤解語言與文字之特殊意涵,致使做出謬誤的判斷,引發偏差的行為。鑑此,歷經深入研究後,發現人類語文依其功能屬性,可概分認真理性者、信念性者、信仰性者、純溝通性者共四類,而對該四類不同語文意涵之正確認知,是個體合理性批判思考之基礎。

I have come to observe that people's mistaken judgments are usually resulted from their misunderstanding of the distinct implications embodied in language and print. Those judgments in turn trigger misbehaviors on their part. After year s of persistent inquiry, I would like to bring to light here four types of function embodied in human languages and prints. They are identified as those associated with genuine reason, with personal conviction, with personal belief, or with interpersonal communication. An infallible recognition of these different fun ct ions of different languages and prints helps to lay the foundation of sensible critical thinking.
