The Spotted Eagle (Aquila clanga) is a rare migrant and winter visitor in Taiwan. From February 2004 to May 2005, I collected 14 sighting records of Spotted Eagles from different locations and observers. Accompanying each record are digital photographs taken by the various observers. After careful comparison of these photographs, I found that these 14 records were comprised of only 4 different individuals. Therefore, digital images are proving to be a useful tool for individual identification work in raptor investigation projects.
