Learning how to play piano well takes a long time. The skill and art of piano playing requires that one practices. It is important to learn how to practice. Do not start your work without knowing what should be practiced, and why it should be practiced, and how the technical and musical problems should be solved. A conscientious teacher will find many ways to stimulate a pupil. The teacher must establish a warm rapport with, and gain the confidence of, the pupil, whether a beginner or a transfer student. Students should think and listen while practicing piano, then practice with efficiency and perform with confidence. Otherwise, even through practicing hard and the teacher's rigid teaching, students can achieve nothing but regress. In this paper, I will discuss the important issues and present some solutions in piano teaching from my teaching experience.
