護理生命歷程經驗之敘說研究-以台灣教會醫院附設護校畢業之護理人員為例

A Narrative Research of Nursing Life Experiences-Case Study of Nurses from a Christian Affiliated School in Taiwan

摘要


背景:台灣的西式護理起源於西式醫學的發展,百餘年前傳教士藉由提供醫療照護為傳道之工具,促使西式醫學和護理照護模式引進本土。1950-1970年代曾存在以培養學生身心靈照顧能力為目標的教會醫院附設護校,但有關這方面的記載非常稀少。目的:本研究目的在探討教會醫院附設護校畢業護理人員的護理生命歷程及經驗。方法:採用敘說研究法,採立意取樣及滾雪球方式收案,以彰化基督教醫院附設護校畢業生為訪談對象,以一對一訪談方式,共訪談四位校友,所得資料再依據「類別-內容」模式分析護理生命歷程的經驗內涵。結果:護理生命歷程呈現三個經驗主軸:護理啟蒙與成長、妥協桎梏突破逆境、固守與傳承。結果顯示信仰對專業倫理和工作價值有著正面的影響,藉由信仰的價值觀內蘊成護理價值於心中並實踐。亦證實良好典範的潛移默化,可促使護理價值內涵的培育。結論/實務應用:教會醫院的博愛與人本精神有助於護理人員體會護理的價值,學校教育與工作中之良好典範能促使護理核心價值之內化與實踐。在護理生命遭逢威脅時,積極尋求解決之道,終能使危機變為轉機。本研究結果可提供護理學校、在職教育及行政決策之參考,亦有助充實台灣教會醫療發展史資料庫。

Background: In Taiwan, the development of nursing care started more than 100 years ago. It was introduced by missionaries. They brought new religions, such as Christian and Catholic, and combined the concepts of western medication and nursing care. During 1950-1970, there were several nursing schools affiliated with mission hospitals addressing the ability of physical, mental and spiritual care. However, very few records about these schools were left. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate life experiences of nurses who graduated from religious-related nursing schools. Methods: A narrative research was used; purposive sampling and snowball were utilized. We interviewed graduated nursing school students from nursing school of Changhua Christian Hospital. This study recruited four nursing school alumni of Changhua Christian Hospital. Data were analyzed by using category-content analysis. Results: Life experiences of nurses include three subjects: "enlightenrnent and growth of nursing career"; "compromising constraint and breaking through adversity"; "stick and inherit". The study results show that belief has positive influences on professinal ethics and job values. With belief, nursing values have influenced us imperceptibly; Therefore it is proved that good examples of imperceptible influences can motivate development of nursing values. Conclusion / Implications for Practice: The fraternity and humanism of church hospitals help nurses appreciate the value of nursing. The good examples of school education and work can promote the internalization and practice of nursing core values. When nursing career is threatened, finding the solutions actively can turn the crisis into a turning point. The results provide references for administrators and teachers in nursing schools.
