Chronic cough is one of the common diseases in Chinese medicine clinics. It is defined as the clinical syndrome of coughing for more than 3 weeks, with cough as the main symptom and chest X-ray examination without obviously abnormal findings. This case is a 66-year-old retired man with a smoking age of about 40 years. Three years ago, due to his wife's stroke, he needed to take care of her daily life. He felt pressured and then coughed more heavily. In the initial diagnosis, the chief complaint was pharyngeal itching and cough for about 8 years. The diagnosis was the deficiency of lung yin or lung constitution, liver energy stagnation, and insufficiency of yin or constitution over central body. The prescription was used to nourish and clear the lungs, calm the liver, and nourish for the constitution of the central body. After several times of treatment, the pharyngeal itching and cough got well improved.
