Effects of Prenatal Education Program on Breastfeeding after Cesarean Section

摘要


The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate breastfeeding education program on planed cesarean section for primigravidae women for whom C-Section was planned. The program was givesduring 36 to 39 weeks of gestational age. This study was a quasi-experimental design. The experimental group included 54 women who received a booklet and VCD breastfeeding education instruction and 46 women who didn't as a control group. We recruited control group women first. The instruments for this study included a questionnaire exploring difficulties with breastfeeding program. Women who received the breastfeeding education had a higher rate of exclusive breastfeeding (79.6% vs. 52.0%, X^2 = 8.35, p < .05) during the hospital stay and lower breastfeeding difficulty score (72.1 vs. 89.4, t =17.16, p < .001) then did controls. This study demonstrates the effectiveness this breastfeeding education program for promoting breastfeeding and reducing barrier with breastfeed women' within the first four hospital days after cesarean section.
