衛生教育介入對社區婦女更年期知識及健康行為之成效探討

Effectiveness of a Health Education Program on Menopause Provided in a Community

摘要

The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of a menopause health education program for women in a community in northern Taiwan. Knowledge about menopause and health behaviors were assessed by questionnaires before and after participation in the education program. The menopause knowledge questionnaire asked about the definition of menopause, health care for the menopause, physical and mental changes associated with menopause, and hormone replacement therapy. The questionnaire on health behavior included items on nutrition, exercise, responsibility for one's health, and psychological health. A total of 70 subjects filled in the questionnaires at the start, but only 64 completed them (response rate: 91%). The data were analyzed by SPSS 10.0. The pre- and post-education data were compared by using a paired t-test. The relationship between knowledge about menopause and health behaviors was assessed by the Pearson product moment correlation coefficient. Post-education results significantly improved over the initial responses on both the knowledge and health behavior questionnaires (p < .001). However, there was no significant correlation between knowledge and health behavior. This menopause health education program, provided in the community, increased knowledge and indicated a change in health behaviors in menopausal women.
