Improvement of Correct Rate in Recognizing and Practicing Orthopedic Surgical Instruments by Newly Employed Operating Room Nurses

摘要

執行手術器械是手術室新進護理人員的首要技能，新人面對繁多複雜的骨科器械能夠有效學習及正確執行是非常重要的。經現況調查發現：骨科手術器械及植入物種類太多、無器械圖片或影像檔及醫師習慣不同等因素影響，使新進護理人員執行骨科手術器械正確率偏低。經舉辦骨科器械教學、提供骨科器械備物標準手冊、骨科器械電腦影像教學圖片檔及骨科器械教學DVD影片等方案實施後，新進護理人員執行骨科手術器械正確率由66.7%提升至85.6%；骨科手術器械認知測驗平均得分由58.2分提升至83.7分，皆達專案目的，本專案有效提升新人執行骨科手術器械正確率。盼望本專案未來擴展至其他科別，共同重視新人學習需求，提供新進護理人員對更多手術器械學習之參考。

Practicing surgical instruments are the major priority skills for newly employed operating room nurses. Facing many complex orthopedic instruments, effective learning and correct execution are important for them. Status survey revealed that complex orthopedic surgical instruments and implants, no pictures or video files of these instruments, and variety habits of different physicians are all facts that influence the low correct rate around these new stuffs. By performing a project that included teaching course to recognize orthopedic devices, providing standard manual, images, teaching video files in computer and DVD disc support of these orthopedic devices, the correction rate and recognition score of performing orthopedic surgical instruments raised from 66.7% to 85.6% and 58.2 scores to 83.7 scores, separately. All reach the goals of the project estimation. By this project, new stuffs effectively improve the correct rate of recognizing new orthopedic surgical instruments. Hope this project would extend to other departments to meet the learning requirement of new nurses.
