從摸索與反省中尋求躍升-義守大學通識教育蛻變的軌跡

Seeking Improvements from Explorations and Reflections Transformation of General Education at I-Shou University

摘要


台灣的大學院校之通識教育歷經二十餘年的摸索與努力,對通識教育之定位上的認知已獲致普遍之共識,並確立通識教育在教育體系中係居於大學教育之「基礎與核心」的地位。絕非專業教育之外的「補充性教育」或等而下之的「邊緣知識」。已大致形成共識,然而,接下來如何深化與精實通識教育的內涵,如何創新課程的設計與規劃,如何活化教學的方法,以提升通識教育之整體品質,才是真正嚴峻的考驗。 由於本校通識教育體系深受過去施行十餘年之久的「共同科」影響,問題盤根錯節,例如行政體系的層級、主事者之企圖心、師資專長、課程內涵、軟硬體設施、師生心態等等,皆有重新反省與調整的空間。因此,針對實存之缺失與未盡理想之處,逐一漸進的加以規劃改進乃進一步提升通識教育品質之必要作為,本文僅就義守大學2005年課程規畫的歷程加以整理修潤為文,以就教於各方先進。

After more than twenty years of efforts and hard work, the general education implemented on campuses in Taiwan has been well recognized and it sets up the foundation and core of college education. General education is neither the supplementary education, nor the peripheral education. Along with the public recognition, what challenges us is how to deepen and further explore the content of general education. How can we create new curriculum design and planning? How can we bring in new teaching methods? And how can we upgrade the overall quality of general education? Since the general education at I-Shou University has been implemented and influenced by the General Division greatly, the problems embedded are very complicated; it includes different divisions of administrative system, administrators' ambitions, teachers' expertise, content of curriculum, software and hardware facilities, and the attitude of teachers and students. Hence, we aim to gradually improve our curriculum design based on the actual deficiencies and shortcomings in an attempt to upgrade the quality of our general education. This study describes the process of our curriculum design in 2005, and your valuable suggestions would be highly valued.
