有鑒於台灣過去十多年來有關婚姻移民的研究,在議題的提出或理論的應用上都呈現過度集中的現象,以及對移民原生社會的缺乏探討,作者從人類學的觀點出發,並參考近年來Nicole Constable所編撰的兩本探討亞洲各地跨國婚姻移民的著作-《Romance on a Global Stage: Pen Pals, Virtual Ethnography, and ”Mail-Order” Marriages》以及《Cross-Border Marriages: Gender and Mobility in Transnational Asia》,對未來台灣婚姻移民研究方向提出建議,藉此期待從事移居台灣此一新興現象之學者在研究主題及理論應用上能更多元化。
Increasing significance of marriage migration to Taiwan since early 1990s has brought a quick accumulation of studies on these newcomers. In retrospect, the issues and the deployment of theories of these studies were especially restricted to sociological and pedagogical perspectives. Additionally, the studies were mainly focused on the host society By review of two books about Asian marriage migration written and edited by Nicole Constable, this essay calls for doing more researches from an anthropological point of view to diversify research topics and balance the understandings of both immigration and emigration societies.
