摘要

基督宗教的‘上帝’為何？如何認識祂？對於這樣的問題，在西方，從來就存在著所謂的：‘神秘主義’。偽－迪歐尼修斯本人和他所寫的〈奧秘的神學〉就是這個傳統當中一位極為重要的代表。想要認識上帝，但是又發現到：人們所使用的語言，甚至他的認識能力卻極為有限。想要說，說不出來；想要用思想把握這個決定人類生存的‘原因’，卻是超乎人類的理解。就此，如果決定要認識祂，把祂‘說’出來，唯一能採取的方法就是用否定的方式來敘述。說：「上帝是…」，上帝就變成有限的了；反過來說：「上帝不是…」，那麼上帝就永遠保有祂對於現實世界的超越性。

Who's the Christian God? How to know Him? There is a tradition in western Christianity called mysticism. Pseudo-Dionysius and his oeuvres〈The Mystical Theology〉is the typical representative of this tradition. God is a transcendental One, and by contrast, human being's faculties are limited. Thus in Pseudo-Dionysius' mind, god is unspeakable and unthinkable. If we want to know god, the best way we could chose is what he called negative method. This method indicates that if we posit god as something, we take Him as a finite being; conversely if pose him not as something, we leave the abundance to the mighty god.
