Aging in place has become an important social welfare policy in Taiwan; however, the development of social welfare perspective focuses primarily on the improvement of basic care services for the elderly instead of drawing a link between environmental support and aspects of quality of life. In order to achieve a better balance between design and management of elderly long-term care facilities, the concept of community care services is incorporated into the design of spatial and built environments for the elderly.
