This article is a discussion of conflict and compromise between the right to privacy of medical information and press freedom. It is worthwhile to research into whether or not a patient should abandon the liberty of right to privacy of health condition under the pressure of press freedom. The fact that so-called public interest brought by the press freedom coincides with patients' reasonable expectation of privacy is focused. The concept of the press freedom and right to privacy of medical information is firstly defined. Secondly, on the basis of news events, the possible conflicts between the right to privacy of medical information and the press freedom are analyzed and categorized. In order to help health care workers to protect the right to privacy of health information for patients, the criteria for mediating two basic rights is finally provided.
