College education enables young students to transform from impetuous adolescents to mature and rational adults. It is a necessary stage of higher education for the youth to become the ”adults.” In addition to the instruction and training of professional knowledge and skills in various fields, the holistic education and liberal education improving the cultivation of students' virtue, attitude, spirit (mind), and temperament particularly has a significant effect on their career planning and growth. This study was conducted based on the author's experiences, observation, and perception of long-term accumulation and constant modification of teaching of general and liberal education course. This study used literature courses as an example to investigate, explore, and discuss the effect of selection of teaching materials and teaching methods on teachers' instruction performance. Moreover, this study also collected students' responses and true feelings as they underwent the assessment. It was hoped that the test of the reliability of this teaching process could help improve the implementation of the ideas and spirits of holistic and liberal education.
